The Art Of Success
The Art of Success by Nick Dear
11th June – 6th July 2002
Arcola Theatre
Condensing ten years in the life of the artist William Hogarth in to an hilarious gin fueled night, this outrageous comedy is packed with political intrigue and betrayal.
A modern classic premiered by the RSC in 1986, this play is bawdy, crackles with sparkling dialogue and vibrant images of Georgian London.

‘As palatable as cheese and wine’
The Times
‘Nicholson’s sordidly atmospheric production has more than a whiff of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’
‘a visual cleverness prevails, and at one point the wigless, naked Porter looks as if he has erupted straight out of ‘The Rakes Progress’. Fresh and turbulent fun, this is appropriately naughty fodder for the Noughties’
